Ski Japan Eyecare Conference 2021

Furano, Japan. March 6, 2021

 COVID-19 Update, mid-October 2020.

At this point, the restrictions on international travel will potentially mean the event cannot proceed. I am not giving up yet. If things change and a travel bubble happens I have things ready to go ahead. Fingers and toes crossed!

Certainly, those of you who have paid a deposit can get a full refund at any time.

The 2021 conference is now scheduled to start Saturday, March 6, 2021, and will run until the following Saturday. It was originally scheduled for a January 23 start but with international travel impacted by Covid-19, I have moved it back to give the world a chance to return to a more normal status. I will have user-friendly cancellation options in place.

Located in the centre of Japan's north island of Hokkaido, snow conditions are usually excellent at this time of the year. The resort usually remains open through to May each year so we are still in midseason. The weather and snow quality is usually superior to the more coastal resorts such as Niseko

The venue is the New Prince hotel. This has a perfect ski in ski out location directly on the slopes. It makes it very easy to have a quick break from the slopes and return or meet up with friends. As always, these are multidisciplinary events open to all arms of the eye care industry. Friends and family are always welcome to tag along for the fun.

Furano is well services with a modern lift infrastructure and an impressive vertical drop of around 1000m  [>3,000ft]. It caters well for beginners through to expert snow lovers. There are great early skier options adjacent to the hotel and the ski school is good. There is also night skiing from the hotel with a very worthwhile area open until about 8.30 daily so you can have a 12 hour ski day if you want!

The academic program will evolve as the year progresses and formal talks will be held between 4 and 7 pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There will be plenty of networking and reflection periods.
